Best place(s) to learn Java?

It depends on your learning style. Heres a few I'll list some pros and cons. I personally decided to go the book route because I would always zone out whenever I watched videos. Anyway if you're interested I bought Java A Beginners Guide 5th edition by Herbert Schildt.

Videos:
Pros:
- Free, Easy to get support on if you're having a problem
Cons:
- Most of these people may accidentally leave out details or info, difficult to go back and find something if you're not understanding it, and you go at the creators pace and not your own

Online Tutorials
Pros:
- Free, usually pretty well written
Cons:
- Require the internet at all times

Books
Pros:
- Nearly all of them are well written, you can read reviews on if it works from other customers online, usually have chapter tests and quizzes to test your knowledge, and usually have example/test programs you can write and modify to make them more effective.
Cons:
- Less portable and little to no support from the author if you have problems.

I would recommend Udemy the course I used was free and really helpful, everything I know how to do in java was because of Udemy.

I was quite strange about learning java. I learned C# then realized its close to java so i switched over to java for my main language. Then I use google for everything else I need.

If you really want to learn more then create a program and consult google when you need help. You have to really try NOT to use google though, only use it if you have no idea how something works.
