I recently bought a gaming pc which is going pretty well in everything as it was $2k, every game goes perfectly fine, except for minecraft, I seem to get 100 fps which is totally fine I know, but the spike lag I get is what kills me. It drops from like 200 fps to 10 fps and then goes back to like 50 and drops again this happens a lot and I can't simply play like that and that game is the reason why I was able to buy this pc so I can't really forget about it.

the graphics card is nvidia geforce gtx 970

All other issues aside, if you paid $2k for that you have been hugely ripped off, even if it was a year ago. That removes a lot of credibility from your issue to be honest. Processor $339 at release, GTX 970 $329, 16GB of good RAM wouldn't be more than about $100... motherboard and hard drive as well as assembly cost and shipping would maybe take it up to the $1k mark - if you had bought it TWO years ago when those components were released.

Show us actual game FPS log screenshots, showing that you reach "100 or 200" and drop to 10, because I imagine you're actually just getting 50-60 and then dropping a bit when you enter large map areas with lots of entities.

Maybe it's the browser you are using? I don't have much experience with this but Ubuntu is pretty good for this stuff

I think they mean that it might be your OS.
So what OS are you using? I recommend Windows or Linux. Both are fairly good for gaming.

it lags always, the spike lag happens always, and i've even tried allocating 8gb of ram to the game and it still didn't work. I did 4 and 6 as well. Have it at 2 rn.

most likely you need to allocate more ram 3-4 gb

Drops like that are more than likely an outlier, regarding the performance you're technically running Minecraft at (aka, your graphics card is working fine if you're getting 100+ FPS normally).

The first thing that comes to mind for sudden drops in performance is power loss; are you playing plugged in, or on battery? If battery, test while plugged in. $2000 in this day and age for a 970 likely means you're on a laptop anyways...

Test in a few different settings as well; do you only get drops when you load chunks, or when 50 TNT go off, or when you turn on a server lag machine, etc. ?

Not much to run off of here. And yeah, allocate more RAM.

What do you mean with the graphics card thing? That it's bad? Yeah the pc was 2k, but 1 yaer ago when I bought it, it took 1 year to get shipped because of where I live... So yeah (they wanted like $1k more to ship it so i was like hell na)

I'm on 6700K at 4.4 & 980Ti and I don't run @ 120FPS+ with shaders. Liar!
Also, FPS screenshots mean NOTHING. I've got a screenshot of ~6.5K+ FPS.

Like sethseth6 said, you could be hitting a memory limit. I recommend allocating between 2-4GB to avoid any potential future issues.

Whenever I get lag spikes like that, I usually allocate more memory and it just works.

DXDIAG would be useful. Try downloading the latest drivers for the gtx 970. Reinstall java 64 bit.
