Help?!?

Hey, I have a question. How do I make my computer faster? I have a compaq CQ50 and it is very slow. so far the only game i can run is minecraft and even that does not get great fps. I have seen videos where people are playing skyrim or BF3 and it runs well for them. I only get about 30 fps and even my Moms computer which is about 5 years older than mine gets about 100 fps.

If anyone has any tips or suggestions that would be great because I was really looking forward to getting BF3.
