The alts get banned. Depending on the severity of the original account belonging to the person who was creating tons of new accounts, they may be banned as well. Usually people don't do this just for the heck of it. It's usually to evade bans or promote their original account's content/posts, which usually results in the original account receiving a ban.

I wouldn't be surprised if most people who make posts like this come back at some point.

This is another reason why. A lot of people request to be permanently banned or their account deleted and then come back a few months later. If we had deleted their account or permanently banned them, they would have to create a new account to ask for an unban or would just make a new account and we would have nothing to link them to their old one.

I don't see anything against the rules that is quoted. Or is it just the whole post?

If you don't see anything breaking the rules after a mod posts something like that, the offending posts were either snipped or deleted.

Just to clarify, we don't terminate accounts. This is to make sure we have a record of all our users since only one account is allowed per person.

I don't understand why people always request for an account termination when they "leave." I wouldn't be surprised if most people who make posts like this come back at some point.

Also you could just remove your own submissions/comments if you really wanted to do that. I just don't understand why people want mods to do that lol.
