What is so good about linux computers? My friends all use it but I don't know what it does?

Uses less RAM and less of your processor. Great for developers. Can't get viruses.
It is much faster than windows and takes up less GB (i think) and its better on older computers! (take my word for it... my laptop is 23 years old ) If i were you... i'd use it
It depends on the distribution of linux, I know some distributions are bigger than a GB, but some are tiny, and around 60-100 MB
You can get viruses on linux, they're just very rare compared to windows.

I also hate linux and i hate windows.
I love linux and hate windows coz linux is overall slightly simpler than the windows registry; it often has a smaller footprint; it is really secure and the open source gives you confidence.
Why I hate linux and love windows coz linux is very very hard to configure anything or set up anything at all; linux is generally more stable, but handles crashes TERRIBLY; linux has a heck of a time with proprietary stuff like drivers, as the double edge sword of open source bites deep.

I don't like linux. My first laptop had linux on and gave me a really bad impression on laptops, I was younger back then. Windows is much better. Has a smooth theme and look and to me just works alot better. Also not that many programs work with linux.

Linux is the most used operating system for servers, almost all website hosts use linux.
It is more secure. It uses less resources such as memory, and processing power alone then windows does. It's also used a ton in TV's, coffee makers, and more.

It's open source (I think) which means there're a lot of variants, popular ones being Ubuntu and such.
It supports 64 bit versions of a lot of games (making it better in some cases), and is easier for programming as it allows for much more developer features (as it is open source).
while it is "better", windows still has a better user interface (in my opinion), ubuntu is the most user friendly variant of Linux (as I have heard).
and the best thing is that you can use it as a second OS, so you can choose what to use when booting up, you can also run it inside of a virtual machine, so you can use 2 OS's at the same time, like using 2 computers at the same time.
