Uhm...I can't connect to minecraft.net on the launcher...but if I go to minecraft.net I can go on the site, but not play the game! Can someone tell me how to fix this?

im not playing at the moment but thats very reliable.
I've been getting this too, and it's driving me crazy, I'm trying to play with a friend on LAN and it just won't let me connect to minecraft.net and it's making me very very frustrated... Further more, It won't even work on the site, as I was using the launcher in the last statement. Also, when I go to the site, it loads abnormally slow but still does load, But when I press 'Play In Browser' It shows the hunger bar icon, and under it says "The minecraft servers are working too hard." Or something on the lines of that. I request some assisstance. Does anyone have an answer?
