Ok, so today I completed my Minecraft FPS Test on 3 OS which is Windows XP, Windows 7 & Windows 8 without OptiFine and in Far render.
So here is the results:
Win XP: Average 20-30 FPS
Win 7: Average 5-15 FPS
Win 8: Average 15-25 FPS
My computer specs:
AMD Brazos Dual Core E450 1.65 GHZ
2GB DDR3 RAM ( 1.6 GB Usable )
AMD Radeon Graphics HD 6310M
500 GB HDD ( When I tested Win 7 & 8 )
320 GB HDD ( Currently using because the other HDD died )
So what is your opinion?

On a computer with about 2.75gb of ram, running on a 3.5ghz Pentium III processor, I can get 30fps on normal render. Sometimes.
Running on windows 7

I would say use Windows 8 and get at least 4 GB of Ram, 6 would be ideal.

Well, i use Windows 7 and my specs are:
Intel Core i5-3320M CPU @ 2.60GHz
8GB DDR3 RAM (7.70 GB Usable)
64BIT Java/OS
Intel HD Graphics 4000 1GB
320GB HDD
At 6GB of ram running on minecraft Java, i am able to reach up to 70 - 100 FPS. It all depends on the ram of your computer. Maybe upgrading you Ram some time will enable you to increase your game play experience.
But to be honest, i would recommend Windows XP as it doesn't run as many background processes as windows 7
