I want to not be a free-2-play on TF2, but my parents don't think it's safe. I need to get a general idea of whether or not the steam store is secure. This only has to do with protecting credit/debit card information. If you could post your experiences it would help a lot. Thanks!

Hey there.

The only negative thoughts I have towards Steam is all games are saved to your account. You must keep your account safe if you wish to have many games on Steam. (This means having a long password with numbers, capital letters, etc. You should never enter your Steam password anywhere other than the Steam website and the Steam client. Do regular virus scans. Do not share your account with anyone else.) There is also an issue if your country uses Euro. Steam is known for having slightly unfair prices for those in Europe (excluding the United Kingdom/Republic Ireland).

I use Steam a lot for games that I am unable to purchase due to being handicapped. I have always been very happy with Steam. You do not need to enter personal information (you can hide your account page from those who are not on your friends list). You can also save and un-save your billing information from the client when you purchase a game.

I personally use PayPal but I am sure that Credit/Debit card direct purchase is just as safe.

Thanks guys, but I still need more than this to convince my parents. For some reason they even want some negative reviews. Thanks again to all who commented.

Don't forget getting premium on TF2 isn't only Steam, but also Valve (Although they cooperate alot ofcourse, maybe same company idk). But I ALSO have premium TF2 and had no trouble at all, it's very secure and easy.

As Zaphod said... It is ONE of the largest gaming paltforms. Its very secure and has been around for years.
I myself use it daily. Even my server has a Teamspeak and their are at least 50 channels all to Steam Games because we play lots of steam games

Best regards,

Steam is the largest gaming platform in the world. I hope that answers your question.

What do you mean not free to play? You missed that by a couple months! (I am a legit owner of the Orange Box, so premium account!)

Valve's Steam store is very secure, the only way you'll lose any personal information is if you post it on their forums. And really $.99 for an item isn't much.

Steam is VERY secure, i've used it a few times, and works like a charm, trust me, i'm the one who is very protective about my moneys.

anyway, it's fast, and i would say just as secure as the minecraft one.
