Is there a plugin like essentials?

I'm making a craftbukkit server. Tho mine is made with craftbukkit auto installer 1.2.4. Whenever I download essentials, it doesnt work for me. It wont even let me do any / commands at all! Because I want to make a spawn and protect it, and I want playersto be able to /tp and /sethome.
plz I rlly need help ASAP!

Get the full essentials pack..drag all the .jars into plug-ins...and give players the permissions. *Just give the group the permissions so it will be faster.*
