I'm one of them; if I see somebody with a cute or nice high-quality avatar (e.g. Condesce's, Paril's, Azie's, OreoVal, AnimeFanFTW), that tips me over a lot in deciding whether or not to subscribe to them or add them as a friend. There's like a 0% chance of me subscribing to a person with some "3D" picture of Herobrine as their avatar, no matter how much I like their work; that's how fussy I am.
I'm also really fussy with my own avatars; edit edit edit edit, post new post new post new. My frequency of posting isn't to the extreme (e.g. normal Facebook users) but I definitely like to have a little avatar change once every half year (compare mine which I changed from a picture of an F-16 to 結月ゆかり over a Japanese shrine background).
Who else are concerned a lot with avatars? To the point where they do indeed make a significant difference?

I don't really notice avatars. They kind of serve as a way to associate the name with a 'face'. It doesn't really bother me if they're not top-notch, but trollish avatars do sometimes deter my attention.

Personally, I feel it's rather rude to determine if you're going to subscribe to someone based on their avatar. I judge people by their content, not their choice of avatar.
1
This guy knows his stuff.
Seriously, seems a tad shallow to judge someone on their avatar.

Mine is scary I'm fine with whatever avatar really though, I don't not like someone because I don't like their avatar

Counter-question:
If you do sub to someone for their avatar, what do you do if they change it?

Incorrect counter. He, and many of us, don't sub FOR the avatar, the avatar just has an actual part in the decision for the original sub.
1
Most likely still be a subscriber to that person. It doesn't really matter to me if someone changes his avatar.

I picked this avatar when my signature was made I have used it ever since (A.K.A 2 months after I started PMC) But im not too picky.
EDIT: I have been releasing daleks for months! SO MANY DALEKS

I'm not really fussy about avatars...
Although I am yet to find the perfect avatar! To adventure!

My opinion on this also depends on whether or not their avatar was actually created by them or just borrowed from another person or work, regardless of how good it looks.
1
Idk what people think of my avatar.
1
You're avatar is like the think that makes me know it's you lol.
If you changed your picture, I probably wouldn't know who you are xD (I don't look at names too often, I just go off pics)

Fits you perfectly. Don't change it.

I change mine pretty often, but I am happy with my current one c:

I personally hate when members change their avatar pics all the time. Its like your identity and you should just leave it alone. I have never changed mine since the start.
1
You're making me want to change mine now. ;-;
1
I guess I don't like the avatars that try and imitate TeamCrafted.
1
unless it's some sort of parody, I'd just say anyone who tries to imitate any famous group/user
1
I did my avatar myself, it's not bad but it's not that good neither.
Meh, whatever

I would be, but I am by NO means an artist and I don't know one closely, so without a good way to get a good avatar image I just don't really care about it.
1
There has to be always a first time. Don't forget. Noone close to me is doing graphical stuff on a computer. Just look around a bit, and when you see something that you like and are thinking "Gosh, that actually looks good. Maybe I can try to make something like that aswell!". Then do a bit of research, and try to develop some skills :p Takes time though. I've spent half a year to reach what I can do now. But I'm going off-topic xD
1
I don't really care what my avatar looks like, as long as it isn't some crappy/overused one. So far, I haven't seen anyone on Planet Minecraft with another Gandalf profile picture
1
mines pretty sexy but that might just be me
1
Looks like Rythian and Zoey there, from the Yogscast. But it looks nice

I don't care about avatars.

I look really angry because of mine, it's quite funny

I honestly associate that ore texture with you. If you want to change it, otherwise leave it.
Okay, I guess avatars are kind of a way to define people. I'll probably leave it then.
I was actually reluctant to change my troll-avatar to the one I currently use d:

Won't load for me. :p

Well, I changed mine :p Finally have the one I wanted. I hope that I won't have to switch my avatar anymore, I hate it. It feels like switching personalities, somehow.
Is this one any good? :l

Like I said before about foxes avatar, its used alot, but I like the style of these avatars because of the whole 3D thing going on

Ya, your avatar is good (I liked your previous one a little better though).

The one with the snorlax and pikachu?

Not intending to be rude at all, but your avatar just looks like another anime woman with strangly large eyes, which is used quite frequently on a lot of forums
1
I went though the trouble of find a image then cropping it to beta retarded Gumball face. I think it's the best icon i've made.
1
Is my avatar good? :c
1
Yep.

I usually just see a build I really like then sub to whoever made it.
Usually for me goes straight from build to sub rather than build, page, sub.
Often times I'll see a pretty unique avatar who has nothing I'm really interested in (skins) sooooo...I usually won't sub to them. It's not that I don't like what they post, I just don't take much interest what they're interested in.
...
now that I look at it, where'd the subscription projects box go on the front page??? Love that thing.

I've always had this avatar, and I'm finally going to draw another one yay

I could say that I'm not fussy with avatars, but with my current one I kept pausing and playing a trailer so I could get a shot that wasn't blurry. And maybe I'm not so fussy with my own because they're all from games.
As for other people, if someone has an intricate avatar alongside good work, I'll certainly subscribe. However I'm less picky with other people's avatars because I prefer their work.

I'm currently working on my avatar, making my skin in 3D just like my signature (Which has also been made in Blender3D) Takes some time, but is probably worth it. I don't really like my avatar, even though it doesn't look bad.

Aethrozviktorjanpaulis"What's your reason for not liking people with "high-quality" avatars?TheHipster
But I'm still confused as to why you have a problem with high-quality avatars...
Read more carefully. It says:Snowyfoxif I see somebody with a cute or nice high-quality avatar, that tips me over a lot in deciding whether or not to subscribe to them
It tips Snowyfox over to subscribe. In a good way. Basically that is one of the major factors in the decision of whether to sub or not.
Yeah, I just realized I wrote that sentence in a strange way, but yes, it tips me over to the plus side; in a good way.
And yes, if you actually look at most of the people that posted here, they indeed have really good avatars (some here have just sub-standard avatars like me and PengoPenguinRocks (imo! Don't eat me!)).
AzieThis avatar took me like 8 hours to finish... THE DITHER ON THIS THING WAS A LIVING, WALKING NIGHTMARE, so I really appreciate it.
That is indeed a very long time for an avatar, but hey, the end result is worth it.
But anybody who take avatars REALLY REALLY seriously? Like not just be quite fussy with having a nice personal avatar or getting an impression from another person, but absolutely refuse to do something like sub if the avatar doesn't look nice, or would instantly sub if the avatar is a great piece of artwork?
XDInsanityis my avatar bad D:
I would count that on the same level as OreoVal's. So, yes, it's thumbs-up worthy
