I have seen these come up before. And moderators if you are reading this, you should PM the poster why you took down a post of theirs so they don't come looking for you. It would be a lot easier I think for both you guys and the poster. Sorry to hear that though.

Every time something is taken down, the moderator who removes it has a drop-down list with reasons for removal, and a text-box for a comment. If we try to delete a submission without filling out the form fully, it doesn't do anything. Yes, you read that correctly - We actually CANNOT remove a submission without a reason.

Our good friend the OP of this thread should check his forum inbox, because that report is automatically sent to both the Moderator Lounge and the member whose submission was removed. If he does not know why his texture pack was taken down, it is nobody's fault but his.

As this thread is nothing but an attack on the PMC staff, it will be locked and submitted for review.

0: MODERATOR'S RULING IS FINAL
All moderator rulings are final. If you believe that a moderator has ruled against you incorrectly, please send a polite PM to the Global Moderators group. If you are rude or use profanity towards the moderators, your request will be ignored, regardless of it's correctness and you will receive a long or even permanent ban. Moderators can make mistakes, however flaming them breaks about half of the other rules on this list and will not be tolerated. If you can prove that the action taken was in error, we will gladly reverse the decision if possible. Please do not contact the moderator that gave the judgement directly regarding your belief that an action taken was incorrect, all such requests will be ignored and must be sent to the global moderators group within your PM. It is perfectly fine to apologize for incorrect behavior to the moderator that passed judgement and it is encouraged. To appeal a site ban, contact Cyprezz directly with your issue.

Now, I will politely say that it contained Painterly Textures.
Quoting myself from a thread made yesterday,
GrizzlyAmish
SourC00kieGrizzly I don't exactly understand why Painterly isn't allowed in any texture pack? I mean I get that it is very popular and it is probably overused but why can't people upload say a limited amount of Painterly blocks in their textures?

They're deemed unoriginal, since the user did not make it.
Since we don't accept texture packs that are made 100% from painterly, it is only fair for all texture packs not to contain painterly textures.

This is different from other texture packs that gain permission from other authors. For example, if one user A wanted to use textures from user B, and user B has gained permission from A, then he can use the textures.
An example where things have gone wrong. There were a few submitted texture packs that contained textures from Dokucraft, the Saga Continues. Hickorydickory, as well as contributors that work on the project, had found these textures and requested their removal because they contained such textures. The said texture packs have been removed.

If we were to allow a percentage of Painterly textures in a texture pack, then that would require more moderation to see if they're using the correct amount. It saves time (as well as the sake of originality for other texture packs) that Painterly textures are not used.

Also, as back up,
CyprezzI'll elaborate as well. If they are using it as a placeholder for a minority of their textures ( < 25% ), providing credit, while creating their original textures, then I think it's fine. They are working on a original texture pack for the community.

Painterly receives a unusually high rate of removal because of how easy it is to identify.

In general, removing identified remixes is simply out of respect for the original creators, rhodox and all original artists. I know there's a lot of remixes that slip through the cracks. We sometimes get reports for texture packs that have been on the site for over a month that we simply missed. Usually, there are multiple downvotes and comments about it much older than the report.

We do what we can to keep quality original work from being diluted by remixes.

Whenever Moderators take care of submissions, there's a description box where we can say why something is taken down (along with our names as to who wrote the message, so in case if the user has any issues, they can PM the said mod).
