When I play any version above 1.16.5 (1.17 and 1.18 snapshot) my fps is a mess (around 20) my laptop is really but still gets better fps in more demanding games like cs:go and valorant
also I've use optifine and it dose not do much anymore my cpu usage is really high but my gpu usage is really low (around 20%) I've also allocated more ram and it didn't do anything any help please?

Also, do you have at least 5 GB or more space on your computer where minecraft is installed? because usually when there are no spaces etc. can happen

It happened to me too and I solved it with this video, try it if you want.

Did you get support from Minecraft's orginal site

Or try contacting your computer company.

have you tried lowering the biome blend? That might help a bit.

Do you have java installed? (Java, not MInecraft Java edition)
I know it's a weird question, but it turns out that I didn't have Java installed on my new laptop, and now MInecraft runs at like 170 fps, where before it ran at about 70.

Yes but it definitely ran better when I downloaded Java
Besides that though, I don't really know much to help with the lag

I find it weird that in older version like 1.16.5 uses a different java directory than 1.17 and above

That wont cause lag, if java dependencies are missing from the game the game will crash instead.
Also MC did upgrade their java version from 1.16 to 1.17

with Intel(R) HD Graphics 520, im surprised you managed to get it to not crash on startup with the new system requirements

I dont know if sodium can help with GPU's that low end, but you could give it a shot

but i do know mods like EntityCulling would most definitely be helpful for performance on anything

also, are you on singleplayer or multiplayer?

Mods like Lithium can improve singleplayer performance, do you want a list of mods that might help?

If its high end enough, you should see if Sodium runs better

If you want, i can get a whole list of fabric mods for performance

How much RAM have you allocated, what are your specs and what are your video settings?

If you've allocated 6gb of RAM to your singleplayer world, that is not good as Minecraft doesnt know what to do with the extra RAM and they do nothing with it while calling it at the same time. Dont allocate anything more than 2-4gb of RAM depending on how big your world is.
