About Disabling Mod Features And Modifying Files

Hello, I am 18 and host a private server (might host a similar public server) that runs on version 1.7.10 with forge. I currently run a fair bit of mods on forge. I would like to modify certain mods to use only certain features from them. For example: To use Flans weapons mods without most of the weapons. I am also interested in changing crafting recipes and possibly adding ones for items currently uncraftable. If I am able to achieve all of this, I can go public.
