Add More Memory To Forge

Hello! I am currently wanting to add more memory to forge, but I am unable to go above 1G. I have written -Xmx1G, and forge starts normally. When I put -Xmx2G, it says,
Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine.
Error: A fatal exception has occured. Program will exit.
