I logged into Minecraft on my laptop and was happy to see my skin/model was the new Alex model. I logged onto my desktop and was sad to see it's still Steve.
I thought the model you got was random, but tied to a unique account ID. Since I log in with the same account on both machine's, I'm wondering why they are different. Is there a way to get the Alex model on my desktop?

Personally, I hate being a steve but ok
The problem with that rumor is that there isn't really anyway to tell if they were a boy or a girl, so how would Mojang know which skin to give them?

exactly! this, i dont mind either one cause steve army ftw ( i had steve skin... i feel like im noob for life, which is not bad for me)
lol. unless they are psychic, they have no way of knowing a player's gender.
i heard rumor saying "if you're girl then your account would be alex skin ( using 1.8)
if you're guy then your account is still steve, but im not too doubt about this.

you could try uploading the alex model to your desktop from the internet
is it possible that u have no idea how that works? He is using the same account on both pc and laptop and than he should have the same ID. also u cant upload the Alex model yet.
It could be that you have a bad connection at your desktop because than it can't check if u have alex or steve
