ALL SERVER OWNERS MUST READ!
Hey so a while ago I created a Beastnode server with 42 slots. Costs me 25 dollars a month. So far I have been getting a decent amount of donations even making some moola. My server has decent traffic of about 25-35 people online during most of the day.
But what I am concerned with is the effort and time you need to run these things. I swear every minute some guy calls "ADMIN". It is very difficult to run a server. I have some co owners, but they aren't on very often and I cannot trust anyone else. My mods are doing the best they can but do not have all the permissions an admin does.
I am wondering why I ever made a server. It is really difficult. I have to say, it is NOT fun for me. I personally think it is more fun to just play on someone else's server. They manage the whole thing while you don't have to worry about advertising, backing up, or any other responsibilities an admin has.
For anyone that has not run a server before, it is not fun for me. You may think people who own servers are lucky and you may be jealous of them, but it is a pain. You don't get to play, or else someone thinks you abuse. The duty of an admin is to manage a server. If you play on it, people will accuse you for abusing your power ( I run a Faction PvP server )
So the bottom line is that you should just play minecraft. Don't waste your time making a server for other people to play. Minecraft is a game, not a job. I'm not saying that you should go throw your server away, i'm just saying it's not for me.
