i need help fining out what i really need to do i've spent 3 days or more working on this and have not made much progress.

Once you got a MySQL server up and running, you basically just create a database and put the authentication information inside the PEX config file, as stated in the link above.
I've no idea what server/OS you're using for hosting, so I can't really help you with anything more specific than that.
