Anyone know why villagers will increase their prices?

I've saved my villagers countless times from Pillagers and theyve given me a billion stone tools I dont need; why the HECK are they raising their prices? I am not paying six emeralds for a stone shovel. I have around five toolsmiths, a lectern, and a farmer. All of em are trapped in a ~10 x ~10 area and I have no idea why they hate me so much. I trapped them in a box but like, theyre not gonna die.

if they are trapped and can't do their jobs, they won't restock their trades and they will sell out.

Have you tried being nice to them?
Otherwise it could be that you've used that trading option much so they want to force you to do other trades as well.

Because they are 80% Bad intentions and 20% Nose.
They are not all so bad, if you apply hero of the village at the highest level you get their trades nearly for free ;)
Seems like higher demand despite identical supply results in higher prices xD
