I haven't played Minecraft in a long while, but I recently got back into the game again. The options you have to power the beacon are like, diamonds, gold, iron. I know that those power the beacon, but why would I put a diamond to power the beacon when I could put an iron bar to do the exact same thing? Do diamonds provide more power for example haste, speed, etc?

No matter with what material you fire the beacon, it will always give the same effects, so there os no need to use diamonds for this
Yeah, theres no point to use diamonds. It's a similar situation to building the base of the beacon. Iron makes sense if you have a farm for it, gold makes sense if you loot bastians a lot or have a zombie piglin farm, and emeralds make sense if you're the kind of person that makes a villager monopoly.
