I currently use Paint.Net but is there anything better for making texture/resource packs?

I use gimp for both my resource packs, Arcility and MagiCraft 8x8.
I think it's amazing, once you learn how to use it properly and find all the shortcuts xD

Gimp. might not be better but it's pretty good though.

What I do, is I set up a 16x16 flat square in techne, and then use that to texture blocks in MCskin3d. Takes a bit of setting up, but it works very well.
