Blocks not dropping when in servers

Starting today at around 6pm EST I started being unable to chop wood and it drop blocks. The same is true with dirt and any other type of block. Even my chests.
This is not an issue on single player, but I do not wish to play single player. Could someone please help me out?

Hello, this is sometimes a bug in servers, there are a few methods to fix this which I can think of, if you are owner of the server you can try opping yourself (/op) and this should let you know have all rights to the server, if this doesn't work, try reloading your server (If you have bukkit) if you don't, stop the server and run it again.
