So I set up a private server without port forwarding using this tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwLzbjCmVKg I want my server to have bukkit plugins. So I went on the website got the recommended craftbukkit. I put it in my minecraft server folder. I made the run.bat file. Making sure the name matched the name of the file. It runs fine. But now the minecraftserver.exe file only opens for a couple of seconds before closing which means I can't run my server. So my question is to have bukkit plugins on your server do you have to make a bukkit server and port forward off of that or whats happening. I want to avoid port forwarding so what do I do?

The one thing you need to do is change the port number in the server properties.

You do not run minecraftserver.exe to run bukkit, all you run is the craftbukkit.jar that you downloaded. If you set up run.bat correctly it should run craftbukkit.jar.
