Can't connect to particular server
Okay this is very strange. A popular server, and one of my personal favorites uberminecraft keeps appearing to be "offline" for extended periods of time. When I try to join, it gives me this error: internal exception: java.net.sockettimeoutexception: read timed out. I also cannot connect to the website uberminecraft.com.
Under normal circumstances, I would dismiss this issue as merely the website being down for maintenance, causing the server to be offline, but every server list shows that this server is in fact online and has well over 200 players on at this very moment.
I can connect to any other server just fine with no errors. So, what could possibly be wrong?

I know what is wrong. Apparently, the problem you are experiencing is very deep and hard to fix. I will try to explain that. Your hosting provider assigns you an IP. Then, when the packet form your machine is send, it goes through various 'checkpoints'. It might travel all around the world before it reaches the destination. Now the problem is, that IP/packets are terminated(blocked) on one of the checkpoints. Honestly, I have no idea how to fix that besides contacting your internet provider. You might check if I'm correct doing the following process:
Do winbutton+R - cmd - TRACERT uberminecraft.com
You will notice that the packet stops at some point. You might write that down, look that IP/hostname up, and eventually try to contact them(eventually!)
Remember that the route is often random, and chosen radically, so it might not be permanent. Also, restarting your router helps a bit, it does not guarantee it will work though.
I hope I helped,
nik
