Can't play on LAN with FORGE. PLEASE HELP!
Thank you for passing by!
The problem is that, I recently insalled Forge(Recommended build) in my minecrat.jar to get some mods and play LAN with my brother. I can play on single player with mods and no probems. I openned a LAN world. I only have Forge. No other mods. And it opened to LAN sucessfully but when my brother searches for a LAN world, nothing shows up. We have the same Minecraft (I sent him my ".minecraft" folder trough a USB key). If he opens a world to LAN, again I can't see it in my multiplayer pannel... Yes we are on the same internet... I haven't played LAN nor followed minecrat updates for a while now... Did something LAN related changed? And how can I fix this problem?
If anyone could help me, I would really appreciate it!
Thank you again,
Dino.

I am having exactly the same problem, i am trying to play minecraft with my brother i sent him the .minecraft file with google drive he can't see my LAN server, but i can see his, but not connect, i am in 1.6.4, recomended version (forge). hope someone finds the answer
Does be have the same version of Forge?
I had the same problem. When you open the lan world it should say something like "Opened a world on port xxxxx". Go to a command prompt and type in "ipconfig /all" without the quotes and get your local ip address. Then on minecraft click direct connect and type in your local ip and port. It would look like this: 192.168.1.195:55265. the direct conect worked for me.
First, find your internet router. Go down to it, and unplug it. Keep it unplugged a minimum of 5 minutes. After that, plug your router back in.
Source: This has happened to me too. I simply just unplugged my internet router, and when I plugged it back in, we could connect.

Get rid of forge? It's a bug with Forge obviously, not much we can do ourselves.
but you have 1.4.7 you say?
yep
I know one of the recent versions of minecraft was extremely buggy with lan.
are you signed in to 2 different accounts? you need your own. also, forge hasn't worked well for me probably because I have a mac. also, your mods have to be the same. the only other problem would be that you are both offline.
My brother has the same problem.
We have figured out how to get around it.
He just need to put your Ip into direct contact.
To find your Ip you just have to search for 'cmd' and a black box should open.
Then type 'ipconfig' into the black box.
A bunch of stuff will come up, you are looking for the ipv4 address.
Hope this helped.

Alright I'll try that. Thank you
It depends. Long as you have EXACTLY the same mods. So if I had ForgeML 1.4.7 2 then anyone else trying to connect would need ForgeML 1.4.7 2. But sometimes, LAN goes weird, try turning hamachi off (if you have it), try using your brothers computer or use Hamachi at the same time. They are the only ways I can think of.
I already tried all of that... xD Thank you anyways.
Still looking for some help...
Let me explain. If you try to join, say a tekkit server. It sends data which you do not have. If you try and work with those files your minecraft will crash. To prevent that, they do not allow anyone who does not have the server mods on to the server. A LAN version of Minecraft, is basically the same as a server, just hosted off of your computer and sends data to connected computers, rather than your computer sending a signal to the internet. That is why it is easier for games on ios/android to have host servers or run of wifi, taking that strain off of the bluetooth, which will tend to lag the device, just like, running a server will lag, but with LAN it generally shouldn't.
Basically, what I forgot to say, was you require the same mods to play, otherwise the files would crash one or both games.

Yes I know we need the same mods. But we have the EXACT same minecraft folder. I send him mine trough USB. It's like the third time I say that! And usually, even if we don't have the same mods, he would see my LAN world in his multiplayer tab. Just like he would see a server even if it's another minecraft version. He just couldn't join it. But now he can't even SEE it.
oh
ok?
Help please!
how do i join?
what do you mean?
Are you his brother or?
if not then you don't join
if you are just wait until this problem is fixed

but tell me
I did... (Read what I said before replying? )
you don't join if you're not his brother because you need to be in his house...
._.

Look, If you're not in his house, then you can't.
If you don't get this fixed just download and run minecraft_server.jar
from minecraft.net and port forward then get your IP from http://cmyip.com/
and join that IP

are you playing a minecraft virsion below 1.4.5 and does your brother have the same version?
We are both playing the most recent version of minecraft. Wich is 1.4.7 .
ok it's very simple to fix all you have to do is go to the %appdata% folder and take the bin folder and the mods folder and place them some where else then run minecraft and you should be able to play with your bro after your done playing stop minecraft delete the new bin folder and put the old bin folder in with the mods as well but if you want to play with the mods your bro will have to install the same mods you have or it will not work.
Why do I have to redo it all? We have the EXACT same %appdata% minecraft folder... I gave him mine trough USB key.
