Okay im going to try to tell this the best way i can.... when i download a resource pack and put it in the resource pack folder i go to minecraft and click Resource pack to change it but its not there but its in the folder.... can anyone plz help me with that? if so thank you!!!

give us a link to the pack it wold help.. and make sure its a .zip not a .rar if it is a rar extract it and put it into a zip. becase unless they changed somthing texture wise with the launcher update from a few days ago (they didn't) it still needs to be a zip.

is the resource folder a zip? If so you will have to extract them (the majority of resorce folders are) to refer to these links, win-rar is my personal choice

best thing I can say is are you sure its a updated "1.6" pack ? because it wont show up if its a "texture pack"
