Can't Use Server Textures

Okay, so two things. First of all, when I attempt to use a Server Texture (Pops up when you join a server, says "Would you -blah blah blah- [Yes] [No]") I click yes for the pack to download, but instead, my minecraft just [i]crashes. Either my Minecraft is rage quitting, or I have a problem. Help please?
Second, when I try to change my profile picture, it doesn't seem to change for me. It still shows a steve head. If it's not a steve head, please tell me. [color=#4040FF][b]Thank You![/b][/i][/color]
I already searched for an answer to this on Google and the sort, but couldn't find a solution.
