Oh the glorious old days of Minecraft, when we didn't have to deal with 5 year old skid brats.
Rad0din@Carbonwyre No a DDoS is an intentional flooding of packets to a server's router in an attempt to slow it down. Most routers can handle a certain packet flow and still be able to operate normally but when for example 100,000 packets are sent very quickly the router will not be able to handle it and the server will crash.

You just said it in a fancier way. Either way we came to the same conclusion so don't act like I got it wrong. Causing a server to crash doesn't damage the files (except in very rare severe happenstance cases).

@meme100 The best way to stop a DDoS would be to change the IP, but still that won't fix the solution permanently unless he gives up. I would recommend threatening him with legal action as a DDoS is considered a criminal offense and he can get into major trouble with the law, which I don't believe he wants to get into over a dispute on a minecraft server.

DDOS just means that a lot of connections were requested at once. It doens't damage any of the files as far as I know, once he stops the attack you can turn it back on or you can try just changing the port it is attached to and change the port being forwarded
