Honestly, nothing is working. I'm just about ready to throw my Macbook out the window.
You need a faster internet connection and a good PC having recommended specifications for minecraft game. Also perform some optimizing steps given below:
- update the drivers that control your PC.
- Stop unwanted running services in background
- remove temporary internet files
- Before re-installing minecraft remove all game files from PC
- Scan windows registry
I hope the problem would be fixed.

If you've reinstalled your entire minecraft, force update shouldn't have to work. When you download it, it's in it's most current state?
anyway, I think this would be the best place :3

Yes, I have deleted my whole Minecraft folder. (I'm a Mac user but feel free to explain how to do it in Windows)
For some reason, force update fails.

if it's only saying minecraft.net is not available then it should just be your connection. Have you got the paid version of Minecraft? As offline play should be available to anyone who has downloaded the game. Though it may always be a matter of your computer not being able to run the game.

Check that site and see (or ask someone who would know) if you have the actual ability to play the game on your computer. My next guess would be to allocate more RAM, but I highly doubt that that would have any effect. Anyway, if you have any luck, or not, let us know and we'll see if we can think of anything else
The support forums for minecraft are always a good place to start

Have you tried deleting your entire .minecraft folder and force updating?
Offline play is not downloaded.
I redownloaded minecraft about one million times.
