I recently joined a team working on a new minecraft server and I was supposed to be testing permissions for the server when my connection to the server was cut. It is the standard connection timed out no further information message. I have attempted every possible solution I have found on the internet here is a list of things I have already done.
- Make new ports both inbound rules and outgoing rules.
- Restarted the router. Worked long enough to connect to the server once but after disconnecting no long works.
- restarted the computer.
- Disabled every possible firewall.
- Changed java's rules.
- Asked the server owner to restart the server. The server was restarted but it did nothing.
- Used alternate wifi connections. Only thing that fully works.
- Used my printer as a router. Cant remember what happened with that but I know it did not work.
- Performed some obscure commands in my command prompt related to my IP address.
- Used logmein hamachi to hide my ip address.
- Changed my IP address using other proxies.

By any chance, did you try logging into another server? If you could log into another server that means that the server you were on is down and the host has to start it up again. Or did you try contacting the server host, or relogging into your minecraft account from the launcher?
I have resolved the issue using hotspot shield it is a costly solution but the problem has been entirely eliminated.
