Cannot log in to my own Minecraft account

Hey everybody, I haven't been on this site for a long time now so bear with me here.
For the past few days I've been trying to log in to my original Minecraft account with the same credentials as I have always used. However, starting on the day of the 1.9 update, I can no longer log in normally. I have been using the same email address and the same password as always, but with no success. Is Mojang screwing up something again? If so, what have they done, and when will it be fixed? Thanks!

Had the same problem recently after I tried to redeem a Realms code; the resolution involved 'migrating to the Mojang account'. Hope that helps.
He was logging in with his email which you can only do if you have a Mojang account.
Mojang hasn't had any downtime since 1.9 so you could try
resetting your password,
Reinstalling minecraft &
Contacting Mojang support. (Mojang.com)
