When I play Minecraft multiplayer I can see colors in chat fine but when I look at a colored sign it looks like the regular old black. The only way for me to see colors is to look at the sign from an angle. This is quite inconvenient and I am playing with a clean jar so I did not mess it up myself. Does anyone have a fix for this?

you can do many things with this:
go to the graphics settings of minecraft and adjust them if this persist can have the best option to buy a new graphics card or check your computer if you have what it takes to withstand graphically or finally minecraft downloaded again minecraft.

Try getting a new graphics card, or like the above said, wait for Optifine.
I got this problem too, perhaps you should wait for Optifine. When I had Optifine on I did not get this problem anymore.
