i tried logging in to minecraft but it said can't connect to minecraft.
then i try starting my server and logging in as player but it didnt connect at all.

If your using Java 7 that's why you can't connect

Well, if you can't connect to minecraft.net it either means minecraft.net is down, or your personal internet connection isn't working properly. If you are trying to connect to your server via localhost, make sure you have offline mode set to false in your server.properties file, or else you won't be able to log into it if you can't access minecraft.net
