If you want to run the server on any other OS or without GUI it's a bit more involved (see this wiki article for a tutorial(http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Setting_up_a_server)). First make sure you can use java from the command line. On Linux and Mac OS X this should already be set up but on Windows you might have to tinker with the PATH environment variable. Download and run minecraft_server.1.8.jar with java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar nogui.
has this gotten much more hard then it was before...
yeah this is much harder. idk what a path is or any of this other stuff, i just want to create a regular vanilla minecraft server for a simple youtube series
xD its not me?
hmm same server and minecraft face as him... oh yeah im surry maybe i was wrong...
Instead of using bukkit, just switch it to sponge or something like that?
Buy a 512mb server for 2$?
i dont have money...

If you're using the EXE file, you don't need the start script. Just double-click the EXE file to run it.
Or, you could download the JAR version and use that start script you made, but the .exe should be replaced with .jar.

It does work like that, I do it all the time. If he can't join then you didn't port forward correctly.

There is no functional difference between running it with the EXE and running it with the JAR. If he can't connect to the server, he can't connect. You'll need to port forward.

well i have ti port fowarded ! the cmd never worked though and i was always using the jar but the command was for a exe
Read is good info to open your port or easy way not use port but only use VPN like Hamachi. http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Tutorials/Setting_up_a_server#Port_forwarding
