So a long time ago, on minecraft 1.2.5.. I so wanted a skin change, but i didn't have MC premium.
So i watched like tons of skin changing videos, that should change your skin.
Aaand i somehow DID change my skin.
So can anyone explain how did i do that?
Because i want to change my skin, i don't want my lava creeper skin anymore.

Well, this topic has officially gone way down hill. It's not about "buy the game, noob", it's about answering OP's question. Not impressed, guys.
Oh, the sweet smell of unanticipated backlash.
fyi: you can buy a premium minecraft gift code in some video game stores (like physicly, in a store, not online). (i personally have never seen it in one, but appearently it's supposed to be in some. yo ucan probably look up which ones have and which doesn't.) that way you can buy minecraft without a credit card. jsut log in to minecraft.net and there should be a way to get a premium account in exchange for your gift code.

You're thinking it wrong. It's not about "looking down" on the players who play cracked, it's not the same as mocking a kid because he couldn't afford shoes, it's just owing the devs some money for their good, hard work, and so they can continue this amazing game, that some people enjoy for free, illegally...
I too played cracked Minecraft for a week or so, but after seeing how awesome the game was, I convinced my parents to buy it, and before you say anything, my parents are very strict with Video games. Took me entering in the school's honor board to get them to buy it, and still it took them 3 months to get it.
Well, you obviously didn't see the tone and hostility of his voice. It definitely sounded like the 'I don't care about you, stop doing illegal stuff' sort.
Parents can be different with video games regardless. My parents started to get more and more tighter when I bought more video games, but with trust, they can definitely buy you what you need/want.
sorry for taking so long to reply.
you may perceive my comment as "rude" but I would much rather just talk free from the hip than tying my words up with a bow.
It is NOT okay, under any circumstance to pirate a game for 1,5 years and than say "oh STFU, minecraft has enough support, I don't need to pay"
I choose my words carefully and I believe I am right when I say.. this kid does NOT deserve to play minecraft.
You could just go to Gamestop, or Wallmart or some place and buy a card -_-
What do you want your username to be?
Go to minecraft.net click Buy then click gift code it should say gift code then it should say redeem and a list of where you can buy the gift codes at
You need to buy minecraft.

Yes, I did see the tone, and I do resent it, there is no reason to act like that, but that my point wasn't focussed neither on his angry reply, nor how my parents got me MC. It was that i find it unfair for the devs to loose milions per year of possible profit due to piracy. There are somethings I get that are often pirated, like overpriced digital books, movies or certain video games *cough*CoD*cough*, but Minecraft is NOT an example of those. Free DLC's, (mods and updates you could say), constant updates, limitless and endless gameplay, enjoyable and vast Multiplayer and a fairly low price, compared to countless other games who don't even compare to Minecraft, yet people insist on pirating it.
I just find that unfair

Whilst he certainly is being hostile, he has a point. He isn't complaining about his lack of skill due to not buying Minecraft, he's complaining about the fact that he's stole it for so long.
Not having the means to buy Minecraft (whether that is money, credit card, or whatever) does not make it acceptable to steal it. That's like seeing a comic in a shop you really like but not having the money for it so putting it in your bag and walking out. Piracy is the same as theft. When you steal that comic you are gaining unauthorised use and access of it - just as you are when you pirate a game.
If you can't buy something, you don't necessarily not deserve it but you certainly shouldn't be allowed to have/use it until you do buy it/get it by legal means. The word 'deserve' is rather loose - especially in this context - so I'd just stick with saying someone that steals something shouldn't have it.
To answer OP's question: you can either login with someone else's account or just change the char.png in your jar file. If neither of those work I dunno how you're playing Minecraft as even cracked launchers have the option to add a username and give you the minecraft.jar file.
Now, can we get back on topic and stop discussing the piracy of Minecraft?
(I know this isn't what you wanted [another reply about piracy] but I want to respond to some of the points you made)
I understand that having it definitely doesn't mean you're clear at all. You're not doing any good to the company nor donating, just playing their game for free, basically. I didn't really mention this point since I was focusing more on the hostility of his post.
However the Cracked experience is limited, it still has a lot of features of real Minecraft. I agree with what you're saying, but you can also have some perspective for Cracked players.
Cracked users mostly don't have access to buying Minecraft (either held back by the fact they live in [insert country name here] or they can't buy it online for some reason), or there's a different reason. It's weird that they can't, but there can be the wildest of scenarios, so I respect them anyways. A lot of people don't realise they're playing illegal material (a few years ago, my whole class was passing it around on the good old USB) too, so that's another thing to talk about.
Anyways, nice talk. Good to talk, yeah.
If you buy minecraft I PROMISE you it will be the best decision in your life.

I'm totally with you on this but yeah you saying he doesn't deserve it was a bit harsh. I've never played cracked minecraft (my computer can barely handle the web x.x) my brother let me use his account until he got me mine on christmas 2012, but yeah trying before buying is fine (as long as you're not trying for like a million years) but it's not fair to the developers and even other players if you just hack everything
Why can you not buy the game at like a GameStop or something? Where I live, many stores sell Minecraft. If you do not think there is one, tell me the stores near you.
Minecraft:
$20 in America
25 euros in Europe
And the others I have no idea

StillCatkemmeoYou been Cracking Minecraft since 1.2.5 ?
then you don't DESERVE a skin change,
you don't deserve to play!
have you really played for so long without ever thinking of supporting Notch or the rest of mojang for all of the good you've gotten out of Minecraft?
You don't deserve to play this game.
Very mean. There are dedicated players who used Cracked and are some of the most amazing players who know more than you do. Looking down on people because they don't have something and calling them out, accusing them of not deserving it, that's just plain cruel.
Back off. Stop being so close-minded.
I've heard of the good old char.png trick which does the job, but also makes all the other players the same skin as you, which can be weird.

Because no one actually gets me online stuff... Everyone brings real money for my christmas and birthday. Why complain about me having the cracked Minecraft? Obviously because YOU have the premium. Buy me Minecraft, if this bothers you so much. And STFU, I do not care about your little "supporting". Minecraft has enough support.
There's no need to be this hostile. They're complaining about you having it cracked for so long, because then you haven't contributed at all to Mojang. It's true, Minecraft does have a lot of support, but what if everyone just decided to not pay because of that? Also, I'm pretty sure you can get a card for the game at stores like Target, Best Buy, Walmart, any stores like that near you should have it. Not being able to pay for something doesn't mean it's ok to pirate it.
Hans: That's what I was gonna say!
If you get real money for christmas (like me) then with it, ask to your parents to buy you MC (like I did, and also with most of my games) or work towards it (like I ALWAYS do)
Why don't you ask it from someone as a birthday/christmas gift? That's how i got mine.
Are you retarded? Playing since 1.2.5 cracked and you haven't given the developers a penny? if you can afford internet you can afford minecraft
Aaand I live in the Baltic ... Yea good luck with finding any walmarts here.
So instead of being a fan of Minecraft and playing it... I should torture myself by stop playing and having fun on MC? Are you -no- dumb? I think so.

Look at it this way though: He pirated the game over a year and a half ago, and enjoys the game a lot... Yet still doesn't pay for the game (and it's a relatively cheap game).

I remember when I was cracked MC before, But then I bought it! Truth is, You can't change your skin with cracked MC, Just go on mcskinsearch.com and find a skin (and username) you like, then open your launcher and type the name of that skin in the "Username" box. But you could also buy Minecraft, Which is what i did.
I remember cracking Minecraft to try it out and then 1 week later I bought it..
That was when Minecraft had no demo.

I remember using cracked for half a year or more until I got it.
Stuff like that is totally cool.
You should be able to try before you buy, but since 1.2.5? c'mon tori6..

Back online on Planetminecraft.
Well, since i'm never gonna get a credit card (my parents are lazy as ____) then I probably won't buy it until I get one.
I think it has to do something with the links..
It's something that anyone who has premium has to give the link of wearing a skin...
Well.. As I remember, that was the way I got my skin.

Well, the char.png trick explained before is an option, but that will also change the way other players (if you play on cracked servers) look. I used that trick a lot though.
Change the name you login with.
If you login as Honeydew, you take on Honeydew's skin (as well as his name)
If you login as Honeydew, you take on Honeydew's skin (as well as his name)
open minecraft.jar and replace char.png with your new skin (make SURE to rename it back to char.png when done replacing)
