On the Minecraft Wiki it says that in 1.6 you have the ability to change your username.

I almost want to. On one hand, I want to change it because everyone calls me a unicorn (Cause they can't tell the difference between a mythical horse, and a planet eating transformer). On the other, I want to keep it cause I like it.
I use to have a server called UniCraft, short for UniverseCraft. People always called it UnicornCraft so I changed it.
I am definately going to change my username.
Changing names was only planned. They don't know what version it was intended for - it's been in the "upcoming features" list since like 1.2.

I think a lot of people (like me) want to alter it a little, just because we probably didn't think about it much. I know I will change mine a little.

I want too because my name was picked by my cousin. He was 5 and I said that I woudl choose my own name so he bawled his eyes out. So I chose PwningZombie....

That is the most horrible idea they ever have gotten. What about all the people you have banned? Nobody really uses ip bans, so that would be a living hell for server owners
Well if they put the changing usernames thingy in 1.6, they'll just have to ip ban them.

No guys. The system will work with an automatic bannishment of a secret code combined to the account itsself. Banning won't be a problem.

I think that everyone should have a code and when someone gets banned they no longer can join that server even when they change the name because of the code

This 'code' would work with banned players. I like the idea of changing usernames. But would it be free or would you have to pay a little bit of money to change it?
I think what the idea was would be to ban not the username, but the actual person through the launcher or something. And there's always ./banip!

If they make the name changer in minecraft. What will happen to the simple bans? They can just change their name and bam they're not banned forever anymore.

If people don't really use IP bans anymore, well I guess they're gonna have to start.
Its a little bad idea of changing your username cause like if YouTuber changes username then a person gets to change the username to that YouTuber it will be bad. I think that servers will take a little longer to change new version. You should pay like 2 Dollars for new username.
I think that this has the potential to occur, although it should just change the displayed name, not the physical one itself.
I think it would be great if you could change your minecraft username. One thing that people would be worried about is servers and whitlists. What they could do is for server ops allow them to see what there actual minecraft name is and it would be displayed nect to there name in brackets when you press tab (Pressing tab is already a feature). So the player is banned forever even if they change there name in game. Thats my opinion anyway.

If they do change the username they need to have a list that's updated every second that's on minecraft.net and it would hold all player usernames like this

Like countless sites like Steam, you should be able to change your display name freely while maintaining a set username for server and save purposes.
