CIT help please

In blockbench, how do you create a block/item that works with item frames the way CIT packs are intended to? I made my first item and it appeared in game when I renamed an item as planned but when it came to placing it decoratively it worked like a regular item would (sideways and smaller)

Is there a step I'm missing?
