CIT: items that become models in item frames?

Hello, I had an idea for another CIT pack, and one of the ideas were custom cakes. I made such a long list that I didn't want to randomize the cake texture based on its placement on the ground, so I wanted to know if you can have a block that presents as an item (ex. the cake item not being 3D) but when you put it into an item frame it's a model instead? Is this possible yet?
