I have a mac and that's never ever happend to me. It might be that whatever you use to detect viruses has a bug. Hope I helped a fellow mac user

You may have a virus that is rooting into other programs so get hitmanpro3 (It is free for 30 days) I highly recommend this as it finds all malwares, trojens and viruses. Then if it tells you to get rid of minecraft do it then get minecraft from minecraft.net ONLY do not use any other site (if you play cracked then that's what you get lol)

Hitmanpro3 -> http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro/

Minecraft.net->https://minecraft.net/

I would just like to say... Use AVG not Norton. I ahve been using AVG for years and tbh... I stopped using Norton because:
1. Rumors have it that they actually have a virus in it to scam you for money.
2. Its security sucks compared to AVG

AVG is free and the paid version is worth its money!

Norton have viruses???? Pfft false. Norton is safe and imo runs circles around avg. I do not trust avg 100% tbh but i trust norton 100%. Norton is one of the most trusted antivirus out there.Rumors on the internet mean nothing and you can find any rumor you want if you look hard enough.

P.S mcAfee sucks....Just saying.

this happens to me to... Something with the amount of memory or java that Minecraft uses.

My computor just said "trust this publisher?" when I got MC

But if your using some seriously sensitive security programs like Norton, you may have to set Minecraft to trusted, or open your memory and java blocks.

Personally, thats why I quit Norton lol, because It took me forever how to let some programs through to my computor

TeddyMac does get viruses, however it is much more rare compared to Windows. Less people create viruses for Mac, because simply less people use Mac.

Make sure you have downloaded Minecraft from http://www.minecraft.net. If you are using a cracked version, is it most likely that it is a virus, and not just a sensitive Antivirus.

Well i have the buyed version of mine craft. And yes i know that its rare for mac to get viruses. But it doesnt give any sense.

Screenshots would be the best thing as mentioned above, however I have never seen the default minecraft launcher say virus before. Without anything more information the only thing I can suggest is to ensure you have up to date security software ( antivirus and malware) and run scans with both.

This is not true. Get a security program. Macs seem less susceptible to viruses (whatever the proper plural is. Whatever, off topic), but they really aren't. There are much fewer viruses targeted at Macs. If you're not careful, you can still get a virus on a Mac. Anyhow, that is all off topic. Did you download it from minecraft.net? It might have been a site copy.

WEll theres your issue, the misconception is that makes will never get viruses, truth is in the early days there were just less viruses for macs because why write a virus for a minority of the computing world.. so they used to be windows based, but now more people have macs... mopre mac viruses aer writen

I don't know much about Macs, so I can't confirm that. I believe it can still get a virus though, but that's beside the point. Screenshots?

^^ Some security systems do detect Minecraft as a virus. Not sure why, but I have seen some cases.

I may have seen the screen before though. It may be familiar to me. Just try anyway, if you want to that is.

Could you add a couple screenshots? Saying that it says "Virus" is not much information. Very vague.
