Could not create the java virtual machine

Mine happens when I'm just trying to open the launcher to play normally. At first it had the virtual machine error, along with the 'fatal error' message, but after reinstalling java, I got rid of the fatal message thing but still have the virtual machine error. I can't even open the regular launcher. Do you have any suggestions?

I'm having the same problem, at first, I had that error message, followed by something along the lines of "Fatal error occured, closing program" or something like that, but after reinstalling java and Minecraft, I just get the first line, about the virtual machine, but I still cannot open Minecraft. Any help would be appreciated

What are you starting it with (what script)?
