I see servers with CraftBukkit installed on 1.7.2. How is this possible?

Oh yeah they just use it so they their protocol is updated to the latest version and people can still connect.
and not all 1.7.2 functions are working with it. The new biomes arent generating yet and some of the items/blocks are not working. (stained glass for ex)

It may be possible for them to update it themselves, or bukkit gives it out to bukkit developers. One of my staff members sent me the 1.6.2 beta build before it was out, because he got it from a dev.
