So I've seen a lot of youtubers with texture packs that make the void not a boring blue square, and some even with words down there. Does anyone know how exactly to do that? I've looked all over my texture folders and still cant find where it would be

I think you need optifine to do that.
They are using shulker boxes - they are seen as entities as well as blocks and so, can exist in the void - causes lag if you do it though.
