I just got a new laptop -last night- and I installed Minecraft ASAP because, well, it's Minecraft. Well, I do a test to check performance so I create a superflat world with the seed 'hhhhhhh'. It performs well with very, very minimal lag on rather high settings.
Windows 8. (HP ENVY dv6)
AMD i5, dual-core 2.5GHz
4GB RAM
AMD Radeon HD 7420G
Well, I start building a tiny, little home with spruce wood. However, I want to make a window so I select glass pane. Every block immediately disappears. I can see creepers, vague outlines of water, and, the first time, it told me it ran out of Memory despite having very minimal memory usage. I'm unsure of what the problem is.
