Display server statistics on Custom Website

Hi, first post in this section and im hoping to spark a discussion on integrating minecraft server statistics onto a custom website.

I am creating a django based forum for my server, and although I know the DjangoCMS well I don't know very much about querying information from minecraft servers, whether through pugins or php bassed scripts.

Hoping for an external opinion and to see if anyone knows of any examples that already exist that aren't extremely out of date.
