I have no idea if this is the place to put this or not, but assuming it is, what are your thoughts on this?
Intro:
While waiting, and being massively hyped about Pacific Rim, as I am a massive fan of monster movies, and have longed to see a new one for a quite a while, I thought about how cool it would be to see a real monster attack, without the massive consequences that followed, like peoples' lives being lost, massive devastation to families, etc. So I thought, what would be the best thing for this? A decently done game of some sort, that wasn't an arcade monster fighting type game. After a while of pondering, I figured the easiest place to make such a dream was Minecraft. So I spent at least an hour coming up with stupid ideas for the different monsters that I would have to create, and how they would look, and what they would do. These are some of those stupid ideas. Feel free to criticize constructively.
The basic idea:
A server with a bunch of mod/plug-in things, which add giant, destructive mobs, as well as weapons to fight them, such as mechanical, controllable versions of all the monsters. Players are allowed, and encouraged even, to set up communities around the server. The main spawn area would be a massive, circular city, where players are allowed to set up shops, and live in residential things, and wait patiently to see one of these giants burst in, as a bunch of tanks and what not, go running down the streets to distract it from the preparation of 'the iron giant'
The monsters I've come up with:
Pteradon- basically an overly massive, two headed pterodactyl that shoots lightning out of it's mouths. Resides in extreme mountain biomes. Limited to two at a time on the server.
Giant Squid- self explanatory. lives in new biome, abyss, and attacks any boats, and any mob/player to get in water. Resembles a proper squid. Has very very long tentacles used for attacking, as it keeps to the very bottom, not allowing itself to be seen. No special abilities.
YetUnnamedOversizedDinosaurThing- Taking the form of a giant plesiosaur, this monster lives in oceans, how ever, can come onto land, moving itself with its flippers, for 20 minutes, real time, before dragging itself back to sea. Very aggressive to everything smaller than it. Scared of anything bigger. Primarily attacks squids. No special ability as of yet.
YetUnamedBearMonstrocity- is a giant, white and neon blue bear, with giant blue claws. is about the size of a jungle tree. lives in snowy biomes. limit to 1 per biome. Has an ice breath thing, allowing it to coat blocks with ice, and freeze players and mobs, slowly draining they'er health.
Creaperfield- despite the fact that this was the very first one I came up with, I still have no idea what it will look like. This thing will be about up to the should of the ice bear thingy, but far more devastating. This monster has one ability, one only one. Spawning hordes of creepers in a few seconds intervals. Spawns 3 creepers every 30 seconds. When killed, makes an explosion at a 200 hundred block radius or something.
Pitworm- its a giant worm thing, somewhat resembling the creature, of the same name, from Half-Life: Opposing Force. About as big as the said pitworm. Tunneling and crawling underground, this monster can eat through anything, except obsidian and bedrock. Shoots a laser out of its eye, setting fire to players, mobs, and burnable blocks. Occasionally comes up to the surface, but only at night, as the sun hurts it. Limit to only 3 per server, however they can make nests, and lay eggs. if not destroyed within 50 Minecraft days, these eggs will hatch, and begin tunneling. Limit 4 eggs per nest. Each pitworm has its own nest.
Strategies:
Creeperfield- it would be a good idea to hunt down, and kill an ice bear thing, and make a mech version of it (crafting recipe yet unknown) and have tanks, and jets firing at it, as well as some other mechanical kaiju, and have a team of people down below, taking out its creeper spawn. As Creeperfield is nearing death, and about to explode, use the mechanical snowbear thing's ice laser thing on Creeperfield, and keep using it. This will not only slowly kill Creeperfield, but it will completely prevent the massive explosion.
Weapons:
Standard weapons. Tanks. Fighter jets. Battle ships. Mechanical monsters. Same old, same old.
TL;DR version: a mod adding big destructive monsters, and weapons to combat them, stuffed into a server.
Its worth noting that I know nothing about modding, or servering, however I am willing to be dedicated to hosting a dedicated server, and putting my fullest power into the mod/plug in things, and seek professional help if needed, just so long people are interested in this.
Also, if you have suggestions/ideas, that'd be great.

I guess I'll get started on some of the models for the kaiju then. Luckily, I sort of know my way around techne, so I at least have that
Moved to Server Help, this seems like a neat idea to try out.

Ok, I was wondering if that might be where this should be, and thanks!
Thats Pretty Damn Cool
