I would like my domain name as my server ip, would I need a dedicated ip? Or can I add a dns record in my website host and use that for the ip?

You can use a domain name for your server, as long as you set up a record type A. If you do this, I would highly reccommend make your whois lookup private so your identity, including telephone and address private.

If you wish to make a domain name your server IP, I know how to do it through no-ip.org

You download their software after making a free, limited domain or a paid, full domain.

Once that software is run and you logged into it, anyone who accesses the domain name will be redirected to the server.

Please note that this will only work if you are hosting the server from your own home, or running the server from a dedicated server computer host. If the host you are using is not a dedicated server, then they may have their own offers for subdomain names.
