I'm in the process of developing my server at the moment, and I'm enjoying it!
One thing I'm a little concerned over is money though.
I'm going to have to pay for the domain, etc, which I don't mind doing to start the server off, but after that I really want to try and get a few donations to help fund the server. I know it's not an issue for me at this stage, but it's something I don't want to take into consideration last minute.
The main problem is I don't want to use PayPal (in terms of money being sent directly to it). I've read in quite a few places that PayPal is extremely strict in terms of "non-profit fundraising" - or something along those lines - and I don't particularly want to get into trouble with them over Minecraft.
I'm not so bothered about using DonationCraft or whatever it was called, I just want a way for players to donate money and - at this stage anyway - let me give them the reward manually (I know it's not ideal).
I was looking around any way, and I found this site;

It seems kind of like a Kickstarter type thing, and there don't seem to be any restrictions on it.

HerbertDieselAnyway there is a service that I know of that lets you accept donations for any reason even if you aren't a non-profit.

I currently use these guys to accept donations since it is one of the only ways I could find that allows me to do it legally. Once again you need a PayPal account to get payments from this website. But PayPal won't get in the way of the donations.

SamistineI'd recommend not asking for any type of donations for atleast 6 months after launching your server.
I wasn't planning to do any kind of ranks, or pay-to-win type things (I know it can completely ruin a server!) it was more to have there in case someone did want to help out
Honestly, I'm not really expected much - if any - in terms of donations, nor am I going to bombard them with "Don8 pls!", it was just so that there is an option there for those who want it ^-^
