So I downloaded the Dreams of Drean resource pack, and I opened the game and clicked 'play'. It said it was downloading all teh colours, sounds, textures, etc., but when I opened it, all my worlds were gone from the menu (but still in the saves folder!). The same for Multiplayer. When I created a Singleplayer world, I couldn't use any item (I couldn't eat, place blocks, spawn things, etc.!). What do I do!?

Hmm, no, I can't.
try and see if you can place blocks and eat on a new world. if you can then your old worlds are messed up
Okay, I just reinstalled Minecraft. My worlds are back, but I still can't place blocks/eat! Help!
Downloading and installing a resource pack doesn't cause this and your launcher shouldn't be downloading the pack since you would have already installed its zip via your resource packs folder.
My best guess for a fix to make your game at least playable would be to reinstall, as romanreigns stated.
