Eclipse server

Just a few days ago I got on the server Eclipse (IP: 91.121.19.49) and an announcement said they were shunting down the server. They gave the IP to new one they had so I played that one. Just today I got back on Eclipse and spawned in the cave I had made. Then lava started appearing around me and water too. Then I was suddenly outside and I started running like Nether! The lava started appearing again and finally I disconnected before I died.
If the owner to that server or admin or mod is reading this than can you please tell me what the Nether was going on?
