Essentials Plugin is Blocked

Hi, I recently created a server, and its working out pretty good, but when me and my friend do /spawn, /help, or /who (or /list), it just says, "Error:0". I tried removing some plugins and found that PermissionsEx was somehow blocking certain commands in Essentials. Can anybody help me out? It's really annoying and I am not going to delete PermissionsEx, I need it for the ranks. Please let me know if you find a solution.
