Extreme Lag Spikes

PvParadoxHello everyone! I'm having some trouble with Minecraft 1.8. About every 2-3 seconds, my frame rate drops down to anywhere from 0-5, with or without Optifine, single player or multiplayer. This just started happening today. Anyone have a fix? Thanks :)

Since you're running on a Mac, please supply the year and model of your computer instead of doing the first question. If you're running Bootcamp, however, please do follow those steps.

Do you have JVM Arguments on? If so, what are the ones you have plugged in?

Have you potentially messed with your game? I understand Optifine, but I'm talking about large modpacks, high-definition texture packs, etc. Has there been anything done to your game in the last week or so? I ask because if this is just a new problem, you may have done something to change your game recently.

90% of the time macs are not good for gaming because you cant play a lot of games. Ill give you a list of great games you cant play on a mac. Arma 3, DayZ, Far Cry Series, Skyrim, Fallout, Most early access games.

Regardless, this has nothing to do with the topic. Just because one platform doesn't support certain games, doesn't mean it can't run them. A Mac Pro running Windows through Bootcamp could run the majority of those games. However, that's beside the point as the original poster already stated they didn't want to buy a new computer. Parroting the words of others before you does nothing to alleviate their problem.

Stop saying Mac's aren't good for gaming.
Here's my 2008 MacBook Aluminum with a 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 3GB of RAM running around 100fps (With bootcamp):

I'm not paying hundred if not thousands of dollars just to fix a petty Minecraft problem. I know there's a fix for this, as lots of people have had problems just like mine.

try getting Bootcamp and install windows. see if anything still persists. because macs generally arent made for gaming and the combination of a 1.7ghz cpu and an intel gpu is worrysome... and
